William Lancaster is an LA-based writer/director and editor with a BFA in Film and TV Production from NYU. Raised in a family of actors, he grew up watching plays and developed an obsession with storytelling. In his own work, William takes inspiration from the classic story techniques and archetypes he grew up with and incorporates them into a contemporary context to tell interesting, personal stories.
His most recent short film, Dún Laoghaire, was an official selection for Short of the Week and of the Short to Feature Lab, founded by Jim Cummings and Benjamin Wiessner. So far it has screened at the Academy Award, BAFTA, and Canadian Screen Award Qualifying Palm Springs ShortFest, where it was nominated for Best International Film; the BAFTA Qualifying Norwich Film Festival; the Academy Award, BAFTA, and European Film Award Qualifying PÖFF Shorts, as well as the Ouray International Film Festival, NFFTY, and the American Cinematheque’s PROOF Film Festival.
He is currently in post-production on Nothing is Over! A documentary about the 40th Anniversary Rambo festival in Hope, B.C., the filming location for First Blood.
